Company Goal

PadCo Endeavors, Inc. was formed on November 8th, 1996 with the idea that, although there are millions of products, which make our lives more comfortable, or tasks more convenient, many of them do not do the job well enough. Therefore, our goal at PadCo Endeavors is to develop new ideas and create new products, which will prove to be useful, cost effective and readily available to the public.

Current Project

Our current project, the "Secure Board," is a patented, disposable medical device designed to fulfill the needs of the medical community in the protection, immobilization and monitoring of intravenous (IV) sites worldwide.

Establishing an IV is a universal procedure in medicine today. A 1991 study conducted by the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia found that at least one IV line was started in 80% of medical patients and 92% of trauma patients, regardless of blood pressure.

Despite the IV's vital importance and it's prevalent use in the treatment of patients worldwide, the need for a singularly comprehensive intravenous site protection device, which will protect, immobilize and allow for easy monitoring by medical personnel has persisted.

The "Secure Board" provides intravenous site protection, which immobilizes, supports and protects an IV site from displacement and/or secondary trauma, and as the "Secure Board" is transparent it will provide simple, fast, and reliable monitoring of an IV site without having to disturb the patient.

Product Overview

The "Secure Board" is comprised of two sections, an upper and lower, which when properly fastened together using a hook and loop fastening system, will provide protection, support and immobilization.

  • Protection—Impact protection is obtained by the use of a clear, medical grade, polycarbonate. The polycarbonates impact resistant properties are able to withstand the most combative patient as well as the hazardous environmental surroundings.
  • Upper Section—The upper section implements multiple foam bridges with V-notched cutouts, which will allow for unobstructed venous and air circulation. In addition, these bridges prevent the upper section from any direct contact with the patient's skin, thereby allowing the IV tubing to remain secure yet unimpeded beneath the "Secure Board".
  • Lower Section—The lower section is formed in a brace-like fashion, which places the patient's hand, arm or foot in a comfortable, normal position of function. This section is also padded with a moisture wicking material designed to draw away perspiration from the patient's skin thereby reducing the risk of ulcerations.
  • Immobilization—Immobilization is achieved when the upper and lower sections are properly secured to each other using a hook and loop fastening system.
  • Ease of monitoring and adjustment—the "Secure Board" can be easily adjusted or removed for assessment, treatment if necessary, and then simply disposed of upon termination of the IV therapy.
  • Application—Applying the "Secure Board" is a three-step process that on average takes no more than 10 seconds.

Valuable Protection against displacement or secondary trauma

There are many opportunities in which an IV site may be displaced or struck:

  • In the field during an emergency rescue situation
  • While loading and unloading a patient in an ambulance, boat or helicopter
  • While transporting a patient to and from an appointment or procedure within a hospital
  • While in bed recovering from an illness or injury, where it is easy for the patient to roll over on the IV site or strike it on a bed rail
  • While the patient is waking from anesthesia
  • When an IV is established on a combative or mentally disoriented patient
  • The opportunities for displacing an IV site are compounded when caring for children or fragile patients in retirement homes or hospice care.

"Secure Board" Options

The "Secure Board" comes in various forms and sizes, to ensure that there is a version to fit most every patient, from infant to adult. Styles include:

  • the hand
  • the forearm
  • the antecubital (the area in front of the elbow)
  • the foot

Each style has three categories: pediatric, youth, and adult.

Each category has three sizes: small, medium, and large.
